Self Care and Slowing Down

It is ok to do nothing now and then

Every one of us is longing for the world to stop sometimes, so that we can take a deep breath and stop doing 'something' all the time. Whether that is going to work, taking our children to and from school, going out to get our weekly groceries or just simply doing our laundry can sometimes make us feel overwhelmed, and let me tell you my personal opinion on this, IT IS OK to want to do nothing every now and then 😊

Sometimes, or most of the time, we do not realise that our busy lives take a lot from us. In our work or home environment, we give time, effort, understanding, patience, love and compassion around us on a daily basis. On some days it is expected more from us than on other days, and while this is perfectly natural, we often forget that it is important to give our own self what It needs to thrive and survive. We tend to lose sight of our own necessities, expecting that we should just function well without the right fuel or the right tools.

One must remember to stop, breathe, and look inside, acknowledge one’s emotions, observe them and let them flow without resisting the negative or chasing the positive.

Take time to pause

Pause your busy schedule for a short moment and do something you love, something that has meaning to you. Play your favourite movie, put your headset on and melt away by listening to your favourite tune, tidy your space and light a candle, unwind in your little corner of happiness wherever that might be, go out for a run or dance in your kitchen while making some pancakes, we must treat ourselves because, well, if WE don’t then WHO will?

It’s ok to leave the dishes in the sink for half a day 😊, (yes, I do that sometimes) it’s ok to say no to outing proposals, just because we simply want to stay home and do nothing for a while, it’s ok to take your favourite book and take ten (or more) on the sofa feeding your little soul with some quiet time, some ME time.

You can be there for others

Find it inside and hug it out with love and presence, do what you feel you must do in order to get your Mojo ready for another busy week ahead. Reward yourself by listening to your own body and mind, be there for yourself before you prepare to be there for others. Once we learn how to tend to our own needs and practice good self-care, the quality of how we relate to others will also alter, it’s that simple.😊
