Now that Christmas is over…
…we might find ourselves wondering around in our pyjamas thinking, what day is it today, has one day passed? It feels like three days have just gone, is it Wednesday already, or still Tuesday? I could have a third coffee and it doesn’t matter that it’s 5 pm because, well, it’s still Christmas, or nearly New Year’s Eve so I can stay up late a bit more.
Yep, the period between Christmas and New Year feels like a never-ending moment of meh, whatever..
Whether we are still on our much-deserved time off from our job, or we have now returned to work, we might find ourselves still eating away at the leftover cheese and crackers from our Christmas dinner, munching on that chocolate Santa or finding a perfectly good reason to have a glass of wine at noon and why not, the Festive Season has not yet ended, or has it?
Our Christmas tree or decorations might still be in our homes, the mince pies and mulled wine still have a home in our kitchen, the lights still flicker outside our house or our neighbour’s house, or the Christmas wreath is still hanging on our front door, there’s a possibility that we still feel festive, and that is ok!
What to do with our time between Christmas and New Year?
See some more of your friends and family- you might be a busy bee in general, why not spend some extra quality time with your loved ones.
Do some thinking - homework for the next year ahead. If you imagine it, you see it, and if you see it, it will happen. Make those wishes, make those plans, and reach for your goal whatever that will be.
Lounge away on your sofa reading your favourite book or perhaps binge watch a new season that is out now, and it’s taken your attention - get that popcorn out, you know you want it.
Go out for some fresh air, recharge your batteries in the nature if it calls you, do a longer dog walk than usual or take the kids to that special spot by the river.
Have a long well-deserved afternoon nap, close those curtains, and dream away.
Organise your wardrobe or go all the way and declutter that room of doom. Imagine your goal and go for it, create your warm and cosy space you have been craving at all these past months.
Unwind - do nothing but Me Time- run a hot bath, light those candles that you just got for Christmas, take your glass or cup of tea with you and just pause for a moment, soak in and just breathe. Let your mind relax and connect to your body.
Tune in - find your favourite music and sink into it, dance away, sing along, let the music carry you where you need to go.
I did just that and found myself hoovering my house with my headset on, listening to some of my favourite songs, it gave me energy and lifted my mood, music tends to do just that :-).
Find what makes you happy, what makes you click and go for it, we now have the time and space to do that, and if we don’t then plan it ahead, make space in your diary next time you do have time off, write it down, give it a name, make it ME TIME!
